Dear Parents,   I hope you had an enjoyable weekend break and soaked up all that sunshine and heat! Two weeks to go here and it will be a busy but fun end to the year!  Next Year  I just wanted to say thank you for your continued support and assistance this year, it really means alot to me. I just wanted to let you know that something unexpected came up. I have been offered a job at St Mary Mackillop in Pre Primary. So instead of travelling around Australia I will be travelling to Busselton. I still plan on going travelling, however I couldn't pass up this opportunity. So you will probably still see me at your local coles haha. I am very sad to be saying goodbye to the school and your lovely cherubs but I will forever cherish this experience and appreciate how you all made it a positive one for me.   HOME READING BOOKS AND HOMEWORK  Homework and reading is now finished for the year as we need to start stocktaking home reading books. Hello Parents  I hope you are having a lovely week so far and you are enjoying the sunshine. Just a quick message from me.  Drop off  Can I please ask you to Kiss and drop at the door and not come into the classroom. As much as I love having you, we have a few students who need to settle in and having lots of adults in the room is overwhelming for them.  Hello Lovely Parents, I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed some of that beautiful sunshine. A few reminders for this week.  Assembly 2:15pm FRIDAY 26TH OF NOVEMEBER Please remember it is our assembly this Friday. Can you please make sure your child has a costume for Friday. If they are a shepherd they can wear something as simple as a tshirt, shorts and a tea towel from home, stars can be made out of cardboard and worn around their necks. Sheep can costumes could be as simple as ears using a headband and some cotton wool balls. I have fitted some children for costumes but I don't have enough for everyone so please make sure your child has a costume for Friday.  The children don't need to come to school in their costumes. They can wear normal sport uniform and we will get changed straight after lunch. I cannot wait to perform our assembly the children are so excited about it. Hello my lovely year one parents, A few reminders for this week. Leaving OLC As some of you may know I will not be at OLC next year. I have absolutely loved my time at this school and teaching your special children. I have decided to do relief teaching in order to go travelling. I have always wanted to go and travel around Australia and I am very excited about it. I want to thank you for all your continued support this year. I am very sad to be saying goodbye but also excited for the future.  Excursion tomorrow We have our excursion tomorrow YAY!! Can everyone please wear sports uniform and bring your recess, crunch and sip and lunch as normal. Make sure the children have sunscreen on and have a water bottle they can bring. Dear Parents  Some information for next week!  Dear Parents, Oh my goodness it is already Week 5 I cannot believe how fast the term is flying by!!!! Your beautiful children have grown and learn't so much this year. I am very proud of the progress they have made and will cherish the time left that we have together. Dear Parents  I cannot believe how quickly this term has gone. I am so proud of the children and how they have been working in IC! I hope you had a lovely weekend and you have been enjoying some of these warm sunny days :)  Just a few notices LEARNING In Initialit reading we have been learning about reading with fluency, verbs and using the suffix 'ed' to show it has already happened.  In reading groups we have been working on sounding out loud tricky words, chunking longer words into syllables and asking someone if we don't know what a word means and can't imagine anything.  We know how important it is to always use our two reading brains - one says the words and sentences and the other imagines what is happening and plays a movie or TV show in our head.  It is important that both happen for us to be 'real readers'.  We are beginning a new writing genre unit, learning about procedural texts - instructions, recipes and how-to are all examples of procedure t...

In Year 1C we have been lucky enough to have the special help of Leo's Dad, Chris Chapman. Chris Chapman runs a business in Dunsborough called Chapstar Surfboards making custom made performance surfboards as well as stocking a range of surf hardware. Chris took the time to make and shape mini wooden surfboards for each child in Year 1C with the help of Wyatt's Dad, Michael Dodd. The children were asked to create a design for their mini surfboard with an ocean theme. Over a few lessons, Chris Chapman helped the children create their surfboard designs and showed examples of surfboards he has made and designed himself.  The children painted the surfboards with acrylic and then used paint pens to draw.  Thankyou Chris and Micheal! Welcome to Week 2 :)  A  look into what we will be learning for the first half of this term: Literacy:  We are focusing on persuasive texts which is a new type of writing for us this year! This is a piece of writing that will explain our readers and opinion about a topic and we will use reasons with explanations and details to try to convince our readers to feel, think and agree the same belief as us.   Maths:  In Mathematics we are building our number knowledge and understanding.  This fortnight we will be looking at repeated addition as a pre-concept leading into understanding the basics of multiplication, followed by sharing as a introduction to division for the next fortnight.  We will also be learning about the relationship of addends in an addition sum and understanding turnaround addition facts, as well as the addition strategy of identifying the bigger number and counting on - think big, count on strategy.   Religion:  The Y...

 Dear Parents  Welcome back to Week One! I hope you all had a relaxing time over the holidays. I certainly enjoyed having a sleep in after the busy 11 week term 😂 We have a jam packed busy term ahead starting with our Prayer Assembly this Friday!!! Prayer Assembly  In religion this term we are studying the Confirmation Unit. Our Prayer Assembly will be based on what we are learning during this unit of work.  The children are learning that people use their bodies to relate to the world around them. People can use their bodies to help them sense the world and people around them. Dear Parents Wow, I cannot believe how quick the year has gone. We are in our last week of Term 2!!!You should be so proud of your children's wonderful achievements and success this first semester. I hope that you enjoy two weeks off and have some special family time together. Just a few reminders about the last week of term... Popcorn and Movie 🍿🍿 On Friday to celebrate the end of term and the hard work the children have done this semester. We are going to watch a movie, eat some popcorn and have a lovely, snuggly and relaxing afternoon together.
