Dear Parents I cannot believe how quickly this term has gone. I am so proud of the children and how they have been working in IC! I hope you had a lovely weekend and you have been enjoying some of these warm sunny days :) Just a few notices LEARNING In Initialit reading we have been learning about reading with fluency, verbs and using the suffix 'ed' to show it has already happened. In reading groups we have been working on sounding out loud tricky words, chunking longer words into syllables and asking someone if we don't know what a word means and can't imagine anything. We know how important it is to always use our two reading brains - one says the words and sentences and the other imagines what is happening and plays a movie or TV show in our head. It is important that both happen for us to be 'real readers'. We are beginning a new writing genre unit, learning about procedural texts - instructions, recipes and how-to are all examples of procedure text w
